Questions Received with Applicant Answers   ( Ask Questions? )

1.) For the GBICs- Will the fiber runs be multimode or single mode? 2.) Will the switches require any stacking cables/modules? If so, how many switches will be in each switch stack?

Answer:

1.) For the GBICs- Will the fiber runs be multimode or single mode?   Multimode  10G

2.) Will the switches require any stacking cables/modules? If so, how many switches will be in each switch stack?  The switches will not be in a stack.  The switches will connect via the GBICs to 10G fiber

The new switches will be installed one per MDF/IDF  -  fiber is already run where needed.

Do you have floor plans with access point locations available?

Answer:

Floor plans have been added to the IFCB as attachments. Each cable run should be supported by wire hangers 4 to 5 ft apart and terminated at the patch panel and at the access point with 3 to 6 ft service loop.

1. Can you confirm if the HP Switch part number is JL3249 or JL324A? 2. Do you have a specific part number or required port density for the patch panels? 3. Can we bid on a different cable drop brand/manufacturer? 4. What is the required rack units for the floor rack?

Answer:

1. Can you confirm if the HP Switch part number is JL3249 or JL324A?    24 HPE Smart Rate PoE+ 1-slot Switch (JL324A):
24 Autosensing 1/2.5/5GBaseT ports PoE+

Both model access points  (44 and 46) need 802.3at (POE+) compliant to operate at normal mode.

2. Do you have a specific part number or required port density for the patch panels?   24 port patch panels will do.  The switches are 24 ports.  we use leviton, don't know part no.

3. Can we bid on a different cable drop brand/manufacturer?    Yes, must be plenum and cat 6   no specific color

4. What are the required rack units for the floor rack?     45U or so  With ladder support as the rack will have to sit 6 feet from the wall due to electrical boxes

Would you be open to bids that include new leased equipment?

Answer:

We are not looking for any leased equipment, we are wanting to purchase the equipment listed in the IFCB (Internal Connections).

Are you needing services for equipment you already have or can the bid include new leased equipment and services?

Answer:

We are not looking for any leased equipment, we are wanting to purchase the equipment listed in the IFCB (Internal Connections).

Will there be any maintenance agreement support) for the Aruba 2930M switches? If yes, how many years? What switches are currently installed? How many uplinks to the MDF? Do we have to connect to other manufacturer hardware? For the Meraki APs, does the ENT license fit the purpose or need of the ADV for the security features? Are maps available for AP installation location? What type of indoor installation? Dropped ceiling, cinder block walls? Regarding the patch panels, are they to be flat or angled, modular or standard 110 punchdown and how many ports? Are copper patch cords to be included per Cat 6 cable? Are the Category 6 drops to the WAPs to all be singles and/or duals? Will lift rental be needed? Inside the buildings and/or outside?

Answer:

Will there be any maintenance agreement support) for the Aruba 2930M switches? If yes, how many years? No maintenance agreement if lifetime warranty is still standard.

What switches are currently installed?   All closets that are getting switches have room for another switch and patch panel.   One closet is getting a new 45 to 48U rack to locate new switch and patch panel

How many uplinks to the MDF?   Each closet has an available 10G fibre uplink (lc to lc).   Each switch should include a 10G uplink card and  2 10G gbic (LC).

Do we have to connect to other manufacturer hardware?   I will connect to the network and configure the switches if you can get them here before the project begins.

For the Meraki APs, does the ENT license fit the purpose or need of the ADV for the security features?   We currently use the Enterprise license for the MX series.  5yr license.  Enterprise license for the MR series 5yr license Co-Termination.

Are maps available for AP installation location?  Maps are available if not already posted as a reply to a previous question.

What type of indoor installation? Dropped ceiling, cinder block walls?  mostly Drop ceilings and a few cinder block installs.

Regarding the patch panels, are they to be flat or angled, modular or standard 110 punchdown and how many ports? flat 24 port Leviton Quickport (modular) is what we have now.

Are copper patch cords to be included per Cat 6 cable? Yes, please provide 1ft patch cables as patch panels will be mounted just above the switch in most cases.  I can provide patch cables for longer reaches.

Are the Category 6 drops to the WAPs to all be singles and/or duals? Single drop to each WAP.  They only have one Network port.

Will lift rental be needed?    No lift needed.  I don't want anything installed that needs a lift to maintain it.   12 ft ladder.

Inside the buildings and/or outside?  All access points inside.   The one in the Gym may need something to protect it from kids.

Could you please confirm if you will need Installation or installation along with Configuration? Can you please confirm the Height of the Building for the Installation? Will you be providing the ladder or does that need to be arranged? Also, if the Height is beyond reach we would need to work on getting a Crane machine which would also add to the cost. Could you please confirm if any special tools are required in order to do the installation? Could you please confirm what type of material is being used to build the building? Is it a stone construction?

Answer:

Could you please confirm if you will need Installation or installation along with Configuration?   I can configure the switches if you can get them here before the project begins.  Would like for you to put them in the rack.  I will provide fibre patch cable.   I will configure the meraki access points.

Can you please confirm the Height of the Building for the Installation?   Most installs are drop ceilings.  A few brick walls.  A 12ft ladder max is needed

Will you be providing the ladder or does that need to be arranged?  Please provide your own ladders.  A 12ft ladder max is needed but most locations are an 8ft ladder.

Also, if the Height is beyond reach we would need to work on getting a Crane machine which would also add to the cost.   No lift is needed.

Could you please confirm if any special tools are required in order to do the installation?   Some of my wire paths are crowded.  A new path may be needed through wall board or brick.  I would prefer wire hangers so that the cable you install is supported off the drop ceiling.

Could you please confirm what type of material is being used to build the building? Is it a stone construction?   I have 4 buildings.  So you are going to have both brick and wall board to route cable through.

1. Are the switches intended for specific network roles (e.g., access, distribution, core, or aggregation)? 2. What are the bandwidth and throughput requirements for the network (e.g., 1 Gbps, 10 Gbps, 25 Gbps, 40 Gbps, or 100 Gbps)? 3. How many ports are required, and what speed ports do you need (e.g., 1G, 10G, 25G, 40G, 100G)?What is the required bandwidth or throughput per user/device? 4. Are there specific latency, jitter, or packet loss requirements, especially for real-time applications like VoIP or video? 5. Do you need support for high-speed wireless standards (e.g., Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 6E)? 6. Are you open for wifi 7? 7. What is required cable length for Cat 6 cable length 8. What are the maximum distances for each cable run, and will they exceed the 100-meter limit for Cat 6 cables? 9. Is there a need for future-proofing to support higher speeds, such as Cat 6A or Cat 7? 10. Will any new conduits or cable trays need to be installed, or will the cabling go through open ceilings or walls? 11. Will there be a need for labeling and documentation of each drop location?

Answer:
Are the switches intended for specific network roles (e.g., access, distribution, core, or aggregation)?   access switches - hp aruba 2900 series - please see rfp for model number.

 9. Is there a need for future-proofing to support higher speeds, such as Cat 6A or Cat 7?  Not at this time

10. Will any new conduits or cable trays need to be installed, or will the cabling go through open ceilings or walls?   You may need to create pathways through brick and wall board if the current path is crowded.  Mostly open ceiling

 11. Will there be a need for labeling and documentation of each drop location?   Yes, please  -  also use wire hangers to support the cable off the ceiling.
